Getting your domain connected to Cloudzyro is straightforward. Whether you registered your domain with us or elsewhere, here’s how to get everything working together seamlessly.
If you registered your domain with Cloudzyro:
Good news: Everything is already connected automatically. Your domain will start working within 24 hours of purchase. No additional steps needed.
What happens automatically:
- Name servers are set to Cloudzyro’s servers
- DNS records are configured properly
- Email routing is set up correctly
- SSL certificates are ready to install
If you registered your domain elsewhere:
You need to update your name servers to point to Cloudzyro. This tells the internet that Cloudzyro handles all the technical details for your domain.
Cloudzyro’s nameservers:
- ns1.cloudzyroserver.com
- ns2.cloudzyroserver.com

Propagation time:
What is propagation? When you change name servers, it takes time for the entire internet to learn about the change. This is called propagation.
Timeline:
- Local changes: 15-30 minutes
- Regional changes: 2-4 hours
- Global changes: 24-48 hours
During propagation:
- Your website may load intermittently
- Some visitors might see the old site
- Email delivery may be delayed
- This is completely normal
Verifying the connection:
Check if propagation is complete:
- Visit your domain in a browser
- Use online DNS checker tools
- Check from different locations
- Test email functionality
DNS checker tools:
- whatsmydns.net
- dnschecker.org
- dns.google
Common connection issues:
“This site can’t be reached”:
- Name servers haven’t propagated yet
- Check that you entered the name servers correctly
- Wait longer for propagation
“Domain not found”:
- Domain may not be properly configured
- Check domain expiration date
- Verify domain is unlocked at registrar
Mixed content on old and new site:
- Normal during propagation
- Different locations see different versions
- Will resolve once propagation completes
Advanced DNS configuration:
If you need custom DNS settings:
- Contact your registrar about DNS management
- Consider using Cloudzyro’s DNS for simplicity
- Keep records of custom configurations
Common custom DNS needs:
- Third-party email services
- CDN configurations
- Subdomain routing
- API endpoints
Email considerations:
If you have existing email:
- Backup existing emails before changing name servers
- Set up email accounts in Cloudzyro before propagation
- Test email delivery after propagation completes
Email forwarding: You can forward emails from your old provider to Cloudzyro during the transition.
Troubleshooting propagation:
Propagation seems stuck:
- Clear your browser cache
- Try a different browser
- Check from a different network
- Use mobile data instead of WiFi
Still not working after 48 hours:
- Verify name servers are entered correctly
- Check domain status at registrar
- Contact registrar support for assistance
- Contact Cloudzyro support for help
Best practices:
Before changing name servers:
- Backup your website if hosted elsewhere
- Document current DNS settings
- Plan the change for low-traffic periods
- Notify team members about the change
During propagation:
- Be patient and avoid making additional changes
- Monitor from different locations
- Test functionality regularly
- Keep team updated on progress
After propagation:
- Test all website functions
- Verify email is working
- Check SSL certificate installation
- Update any hardcoded URLs
Multiple domain management:
If you have multiple domains:
- Change name servers for each domain separately
- Allow time for each domain to propagate
- Test each domain independently
- Keep records of which domains are updated
Pro tip: Make name server changes during your region’s nighttime hours when traffic is lower. This minimizes the impact on visitors during propagation.
